China Keywords

A TPPI Webinar Series
Part of the Telos China Initiative

Webinar 2: Wangdao

The second webinar of the Telos-Paul Piccone Institute's "China Keywords" series will take place on Thursday, April 18, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (16:00–17:00 Central European Time). Our guest will be Yan Xuetong, who will be discussing the concept of Wangdao, or "The Kingly Way."

Register for the webinar here.

Among China's most influential foreign policy thinkers, Yan is the author of numerous books, including Analysis of China's National Interests (1996), Ancient Chinese Thought, Modern Chinese Power (Princeton University Press, 2011), and Leadership and the Rise of Great Powers (Princeton University Press, 2019). He is a distinguished professor and dean of the Institute of International Relations at Tsinghua University.

Yan will be interviewed by Eric Hendriks, the director of TPPI's China Initiative, as well as by Logan West of the Danube Institute, with whom we are partnering for this special opportunity, streaming live from Budapest. The limited time available for Yan's visit means that we cannot offer live audience questions. Please submit questions in advance by April 14 to tppinstitute@telosinstitute.net.

Preference for proposed questions will be given to TPPI members. To become a member, sign up here.
